Soft Tissue Mobilization
Soft tissue mobilization is targeted hands-on release of trigger points, scar tissue, and tight fascia in the muscles around the joint or chain segment we’re working on. The bread-and-butter manual work that resolves the local tension you can feel.
How it works
Soft tissue mobilization includes sustained myofascial pressure, cross-fiber friction, trigger point release, and active release techniques (pressure applied while you move through specific motions). Pressure depth and angle are adjusted continuously based on tissue response. Sessions are integrated into the manual portion of your treatment, never standalone.
Why it works
- Direct release of the tissue actively limiting movement
- No equipment overhead. Flexible to any chain segment
- Pairs with movement work to lock in new range immediately
- Identifies trigger points you didn’t know were there
Soft tissue mobilization is the close-range manual work that handles tissue you can actually feel. It’s the most flexible tool in the manual category because it requires no equipment and adapts continuously to what the tissue gives back.
We use it to set up the rest of the session. Release the immediate tension so the corrective movement work that follows lands on tissue that can actually move.

Where it shows up.
Back Pain
Most back pain isn’t a back problem. It’s a hip, an ankle, or a thoracic spine that stopped moving.
Read moreNeck Pain
Pain in the neck usually starts upstream. At the shoulders, the thoracic spine, or how you load your jaw.
Read moreShoulder Pain
Shoulder pain that comes back after every fix usually starts at the thoracic spine, not the joint itself.
Read moreHip Pain
Your hip might be reacting to what your ankle isn’t doing. We trace it back to find the actual source.

If a muscle keeps tightening up, the cause is somewhere else. We find what your body is protecting.

What people ask.
How is this different from a sports massage?
Same family of techniques. Different precision. A sports massage is delivered to the whole region. Soft tissue mobilization at TPL is delivered to the specific tissue that the kinetic chain assessment identified as the limiting factor.
Should I expect soreness afterward?
Mild soreness similar to a hard workout is normal and resolves in 24 to 48 hours. Aggressive soreness past that window means we adjusted pressure too high. Communicate during the session and we’ll dial it in.
