Manual Therapy
Manual therapy is hands-on joint mobilization, soft tissue work, and movement-pattern correction delivered one-on-one. It is the foundation of every treatment plan we build. The technologies and tools build on top of it, not in place of it.
How it works
Manual therapy includes joint mobilization (controlled rhythmic pressure to specific joint surfaces), myofascial release (sustained pressure on connective tissue), soft tissue mobilization (cross-fiber work on muscle), and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (specific contraction-relaxation cycles to re-pattern movement). Pressure depth and angle are adjusted continuously to match tissue response.
Why it works
- Direct hands-on access to the specific tissue limiting your movement
- Real-time response feedback. Pressure adjusts as your tissue responds
- No equipment overhead. Flexible to any chain segment
- The clinical foundation underneath the technology
Manual therapy is the clinical foundation. Every other modality at Thera Performance Lab builds on top of it. The RX2600 amplifies it, dry needling extends its reach, BFR adds load tolerance to what manual work has freed up.
The reason it works isn’t the technique alone. Every PT clinic offers manual therapy. The reason it works at TPL is the precision of the kinetic chain assessment that tells us exactly which segment to release and which movement pattern to retrain.
Conditions we treat with this
Where it shows up.
Back Pain
Most back pain isn’t a back problem. It’s a hip, an ankle, or a thoracic spine that stopped moving.
Read moreNeck Pain
Pain in the neck usually starts upstream. At the shoulders, the thoracic spine, or how you load your jaw.
Read moreShoulder Pain
Shoulder pain that comes back after every fix usually starts at the thoracic spine, not the joint itself.
Read moreHip Pain
Your hip might be reacting to what your ankle isn’t doing. We trace it back to find the actual source.
Read moreKnee Pain
Knees show up where hips and ankles fail. We assess the whole chain. Not just the joint that’s complaining.
Read moreTMJ
Jaw pain often starts at the upper neck and shoulders. We address both ends of the chain.

The RX2600 Therapeutic Robot
Sustained pressure, targeted heat, and controlled vibration that hands cannot replicate. The only RX2600 Therapeutic Robot in the region.

Thin filament needles release deep trigger points and restore movement faster than manual work alone.
Read moreSoft Tissue Mobilization
Hands-on release of trigger points and tight tissue around the joint or chain you’re working on.

What people ask.
What makes manual therapy at TPL different from a chiropractor or massage therapist?
Doctor-of-Physical-Therapy clinical training, direct one-on-one delivery, and integration with a kinetic chain treatment plan. Every manual session targets the specific link in the chain we identified at your assessment. Not a generic protocol.
Will manual therapy alone fix my pain?
Sometimes. More often it is one input in a plan that also includes RX2600 work, corrective movement, and follow-through on what you do between sessions. The kinetic chain assessment names the right combination for your case.
How long is a manual therapy session?
Sessions run 45 to 60 minutes. Entirely one-on-one with your therapist. No aides, no handoffs.
